EA officially announced Star Wars: Squadrons earlier. Set to take flight on October 2nd of this on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PSVR included), and PC (via Epic Game Store, Steam, and Origin). For a lot of us, myself included, have been waiting for a dedicated Star Wars flight game since Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader in 2001. Motive Studios developed Star Wars: Squadron. They worked previously on Star Wars: Battlefront I. In addition EA has done a tremendous job with the Star Wars franchise lately. These two factors make it likely that Squadrons will be a top notch game.

Set during the final days of the Galactic Empire and the early days of the New Republic, Squadrons will have both a single player campaign and multiplayer modes. There will be a lot of customization both in terms of comsetics and ship upgrades as you progress. These upgrades will all be available through game play. You will be able to play as a member of the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron or the Empire’s Titan Squadron. It was also announced that the game is set in some familiar locales for Star Wars fans and some never before seen ones as well.

“We created this game for every Star Wars fan who has ever dreamt about soaring across the galaxy in their favorite starfighter.” – Ian Frazier, Creative Director of Motive Studios

The gameplay will be revealed during the EA Play Event on June 18th at 4:00 PM PT. Stay tuned for more details!
