A New Beginning
We’re going to have a Merry Christmas next year nerds! Sony officially announced this morning that the Playstation 5 will be launching during the holiday shopping season of 2020. We weren’t given a specific release date but you can assume it’ll launch somewhere between September and October. Game consoles typically launch during those months in preparation for major sales like Black Friday. We’ll be looking forward to hearing more from Sony about their latest console but they did give us a small look into some of the features we can expect.
A New Design
The Dualshock controller will have haptic feedback response instead of rumble vibration and adaptive triggers. Adaptive triggers will be able to better respond to the kind of pressure put on them when used. Trigger pulls during shooters like Call of Duty and Destiny will be different than those of a racing game like Gran Turismo. The PS5 will use optical discs that hold 100 gigabytes of data and an optical drive that’s capable of playing both 4K and blu-ray titles. It will also be sporting a solid state drive that will allow for faster downloads, installs and loading of games. We may not have learned everything today, but we did get a nice little glimpse into the future of gaming.
