When I initially installed the game, after checking out the Nintendo e-shop for more info, I was a little skeptical. The game didn’t look appealing to a guy that plays first and third-person shooters all the time. But, like everything, I gave it a chance. And absolutely loved every minute of it! Nidhogg 2 is a side-scrolling kill ’em all game where the objective is to take over the whole level. Let me explain a little better. There are seven sections to one level. You start in the middle and, from there, you have three more sections to conquer. You “conquer” them by killing you opponent and making it to the end of the section. Once you have ran all the way to the end of the sections, you have completed the level. Sounds easy, right? Not so fast! The game is made harder by use of weapons! You have short daggers, swords, heavy swords and bows and arrows that make the game more difficult. You can block them, but it takes skill. You’ll need that skill in order to act fast because every time you die, you give your opponent the chance to gain more ground. With the ability to either wield your weapon as its intended use, or just throw it and hope the computer doesn’t block it, you get a lot more fun out of this game. And it doesn’t stop there. You can jump, slide, and even stomp your opponent to death. Feel free to kill your opponent in anyway that you deem fit, as the whole point of the game is to have fun by painting the walls with the blood of your enemies. Before i forget, your avatar is customizable. You have a whole lot of options to choose from and you can get real gnarly with your character. It’s fun to see how many iterations you can make and play with. All in all, I can honestly say that going into this game I didn’t know what to expect. Having given it a chance, I’m glad I got to play it. I have already played the game numerous times since, and am glad to give it my blessing. I look forward to the next masterpiece that comes from Messhof Games!
