DC Comics announced a lot over San Diego Comic Con Weekend. While most of their hype revolved around Aquaman and Shazam. Some slight news concerning their popular animated movies was also announced. DC has announced their full 2019 slate for the animated movies.

Reign of Superman

Kicking off 2019 is the sequel to The Death of Superman. Following the comics, Reign of Superman will focus on the world after Superman is killed. In the comics, the characters of Steel, Cyborg Superman and Conner Kent became more solidified to the DC Cannon. No word as to whether these characters will make an appearance or not. But fans can expect this sequel to be released in January 2019.

Justice League vs The Fatal Five

Following the Reign of Superman, audiences can see the Justice League take on The Fatal Five. Who are the Fatal Five? Well, that’s a good question. The Fatal Five are five villains that traditional fight The Legion of Superheroes. The Legion of Superheroes is basically the Justice League but in the future and on a universal scale. If you ever watched the Justice League cartoon series or even the Legion of Superheroes series, then you’ve seen the Fatal Five. This movie is announced as being wholly original. It does not have any comic inspiration to draw from for a plot. Justice League vs The Fatal Five is expected to release in spring of 2019.

Batman: Hush

Batman fans rejoice as the highly acclaimed Hush will be adapted to an animated feature. The comic is praised for its take on Batman and the introduction to the villain Hush. If you haven’t read Hush, but played Arkham Knight then you more than likely played the quest that featured the villain. But there is some worry about the project. Considering one of the last adaptations of a popular Batman story was a little disappointing. The Killing Joke was the film that fans wanted to see. One of the most acclaimed stories, Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy returned as their characters. But the first act was highly controversial, but the last half was perfect from the novel. Hopefully, Hush won’t follow a similar path. Batman: Hush is set to drop in the summer of 2019.

Wonder Woman Bloodlines

2009 animated film

This one is a bit of a shocker. Normally DC releases 3 animated movies a year, but they dropped in this title. They also didn’t drop any additional information about a story either. This will be Wonder Woman’s second solo movie after her self-titled movie in 2009. If you haven’t seen it I recommend it because Nathan Fillion does the voice of Steve Trevor and it is a good movie. Currently, there is no release date for the movie, but we’ll be waiting as we get closer and into 2019.

DC is going to have a busy 2019. With these movies, the DCEU, the DC Universe streaming service, and starting the second film universe. There are some projects I’m looking forward to and some I’m not (cough TITANS cough). But what are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments or in the forums.
