Let me start off by saying that I am not completely new to the game scene nor new to the Tactical RTS genre.

With that being said lets get into the review. Jagged Alliance: Rage has some very serious issues that need to be addressed for console. Number one being that there seems to be an issue with selecting a space where a character or object is standing adjacent to. On PC this would not be as much of an issue as you could most likely be able to transition into the space that you need to move.

The second thing that I noticed right off the start is that the controls are not very well explained. Some may say that this is a fine intro to the controls, but I am also taking into account the fact that some people may rage and quit simply because one of the characters is constantly stopping you to say an identical and very poorly written set of dialog.

The third thing and possibly the most unusual/rage producing thing for me in playing Jagged Alliance: Rage has been that there seems to be no easy mode to learn the game. Being a veteran gamer from all the way back into the days of Final Fantasy Tactics, there is and has always been a learning curve that was afforded to players to adjust to the new or different mechanics of an RTS. This does not have that.

Among all of these things there are also some good things that the game has. If you would like to play a game to be challenged beyond some normal means, this game is for you.

One of the best mechanics of the game is that you have the ability to pick from multiple characters, all with different strengths and weaknesses. These skills or lack thereof really determine how you play the game. If you would like to be fully mobile, then there are speedy light weight people yet they may have no resistance to sickness or may take extra damage from gunshots.

Overall, I would not recommend Jagged Alliance:Rage to a friend to play on the Xbox, and would only conditionally recommend if it was for PC. If I had to give it a star rating I would rate it as a 2/5 and that’s being generous.
