Recently, I have been struggling to deal with negativity in my life as we all do at some point. Negativity is something we can’t really escape, unfortunately there will always be those types around you. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m becoming better at sort of tuning them out and staying focused on my personal goals and dreams. I’ve been listening to inspirational and motivational speeches on my Spotify account, I listen to these in the car, on my lunch break, when I work out, and also in the morning when I’m getting ready for work before anyone else wakes up. I’m not saying this will help everyone, but it’s changed me.
I used to be negative. I used to gossip, and constantly worry about others or things that were out of my control. The person I used to be wasn’t helping me achieve my goals and dreams. In a speech that I listen to by Fearless Motivation titled “We are all in the gutter.” talks about how some remain in the gutter but some people look at the stars, those who want to be more than an average person. I was in the gutter, and I had been this way for years. Looking back on my life, when the end is near I want to have peace knowing that I never gave up. That I made something of myself and made others feel good, or that I helped them in some way.
Do not let the negativity of others effect you. Don’t let them set the mood for your day, get away from all of that. If you can’t physically, get your mind in a different place. It’s easier said than done for a lot of us, it takes training. Make the most of this life you’ve been given, get out of the gutter and be a dream chaser. I’m busying myself with so much that I’ve always wanted to do (writing for an awesome organization like ANG being one of them), that my mind has no time for BS anymore. I’m busy giving my life meaning.
I’m going back to college for a degree that will help me move up in the company I work for. I’m writing more, hopefully to turn it into more than a hobby one day. I’m being active, if I don’t go to the gym I’ll go on bike rides with my daughter or play outside with her. I’m focused on the success of others, instead of their downfalls. It’s all about getting your mind right.
Every single day, you have to work on it. There will always be moments when you need to take a deep breath. So do it. Take a step back, breathe, and ask yourself if it’s worth the stress and energy. Most of the time, the answer is no. One day, all of this will end. For me, it’s hard to think about but as I’m getting older the realization that I don’t have all the time in the world is setting in. I encourage everyone that might be struggling mentally, to please find a playlist or channel that works for you and just keep them on repeat. Listen to them at every opportunity you can, you will memorize the words just like you would a favorite song and they’ll stick with you.
Be a dream chaser, stay positive, do you, and crush your goals. We all have the capabilities to be more than an average human being.
You can do it, don’t ever think you can’t.
